SQF Certification FAQ

What is SQF?

SQF stands for Safe Quality Foods. The Safe Quality Food Program is a rigorous and credible food safety and quality program that is recognised by retailers, brand owners, and food service providers world-wide. QMS Audits is an SQFI approved trainer. Click here for SQF training options.

What are the training requirements for SQF?

HACCP Principles and Applications 2 day course.

We keep it real! We will teach you how to write up a HACCP Plan – we give you HACCP templates to give you a head start and you will get to write some of your HACCP Plan up in the class. On the first day, we review the Food Standards Code, explain how bacteria and other pathogens grow in food. As a class, we find why you can’t legally sell hash cookies or ‘road kill’. We work through lots of examples from Packing Sheds through to small manufacturers to catering and high risk processing. On the second day, we build a HACCP Plan together as a class, based on one of the participant’s business.
We keep our class sizes small. We drive healthy class discussion to keep you awake and to keep it relevant. It means you can get lots of real life examples from us and your classmates that you can use when you get back to work. There is plenty of time to ask specific questions about your business. If you need HACCP Certification – please give us a call on 0800 404 500 – We are more than happy to explain the process to you over the phone.

How is SQF different to HACCP?

SQF is a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard. It is also a HACCP based standard, which means you need to have a HACCP plan documented and implemented in the food business before undergoing an SQF audit.

There are a series of SQF standards including SQF Food Manufacturing, SQF Storage and Distribution and SQF Packaging.

SQF Quality Systems Edition 10 | 1 day training

This 1-day SQF Training workshop has been designed to give new and existing SQF Practitioners an understanding of the Edition 10 requirements. It is essential training, but not mandatory, for any SQF practitioner undergoing their initial audit.

As a class, we will walk through the requirements of the SQF Quality module and focus on some of the theoretical concepts behind quality, enabling a more detailed understanding of the quality standards requirements.

We discuss in detail how to put together your process control project, what the auditor will be looking for and what is the simplest way to achieve a meaningful outcome for the business, as well as satisfying the SQF quality module requirements.

We offer lots of examples on how to cover off and implement the updated SQF standard.

Using the official SQFI Quality module training materials, we will go through each of the Edition 10Quality Module requirements in a detailed and concise manner. We will give you lots of examples of how to conform to the SQF Quality Systems Edition 10 requirements while keeping your quality management system simple and straightforward.

As we work through the SQF Edition 10 requirements, we will outline a rough ‘To-Do’ List on what needs to be done to achieve high SQF scores.

QMS Audits writes up and assists a large number of clients with all of the GFSI standards, including SQF, BRCGS and FSSC22000. Our SQF consulting clients have enjoyed very high SQF scores for a long period of time.

We use this expertise and experience to explain some non-conformances our clients have incurred and how we have closed them out.
